Job Description
The Placement Specialist assists adults with disabilities to successfully secure competitive employment. In cooperation with the client, the client's referral source and other rehabilitation team members, develop a Placement Plan that will help the client to find employment that meets the client's skill and interest. Provide vocational counseling, assistance in developing job seeking skills, and support through the interview process. Follow-up services include continuing vocational counseling, crisis intervention and initial on-the-job coaching and training.
The Placement Specialist also works with community employers to develop appropriate job placement sites, assists employers with issues related to reasonable accommodation, and provides assistance to employers in developing natural supports for the clients placed in those businesses.
The caseload consists of adults with a wide range of disabilities that have posed barriers to employment. The Placement Specialist is also responsible for maintaining appropriate record keeping and other related duties. Office is at our Eagan Center and primary case load will be in the southern metro area.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a field related to vocation rehabilitation services and 1+ years of experience in a vocational placement with adults with disabilities. Must relate well with employers and people with a wide variety of disabilities and backgrounds. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in job placement assistance to adults who have Autism and Asperger's Syndrome.
Strong verbal and writing skills.. Must have competency in basic computer skills, including Windows, word-processing and basic spreadsheets. Must pass DHS background check and other criminal background checks as required by Midwest. Must have a valid driver's license, be insurable as defined by our insurance carrier, and able to provide own transportation.
